A lovely hardcover needlework book first published in 1950, this book is the “Fourth Impression 1972”. 
And with these clear step by step instructions on how to crochet, hopefully I will be joining the “crochet club” soon.This book, while not exactly a Flea Market Find, was very cheap – only $4.50.
I found it at Lincraft! This week I have been inspired by my find last week and by Kate’s gorgeous dress making, and have been flicking through all the patterns at the oppies. I found these.
These illustrations of elongated models always make clothes look so good don’t they? But I love the dress pattern on the left. Not sure if it would suit me but I can only give it a go. Now to choose some fabric…Oh and one of them came with the pattern cut out of an old 1975 newspaper.

I love the fact that you are prepared to work through those instructions. For me, that would be like pulling teeth - which is why I'm yet to craft a single crafty thing. Can't wait to see the results of your hard work and application to the craft of crochet.

I am sure I had that pattern in 1978! I had to make a dress in home economics and boy did I give the teacher trouble. I thought she was such a dag, but looking back, I think we both were! xxNick

love those vintage craft books & patterns. hmmmm that pattern on the left reminds me of a similar dress i had back in the 70s..maybe i've still got that pattern laying around somewhere?
Follow the crochet instructions taking your time and I guarantee you will soon be a member of the crochet club. That's how I learned to crochet over 37 years ago and I am still going strong! Good luck!
Goddamn... $4.50?! I am both impressed and stupidly jealous. Good luck learning to crochet from your book - I tried that - from a tonne of books, but being blonde had no luck whatsoever. My gran is teaching me know though - much more idiot proof!
